Ildar Khalikov about the situation with safety compliance at construction sites: In spite of solid work carried out by the Ministry of Construction, we do not see tangible results

On April 12 at a regional meeting at Tatarstan Government House held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Construction, Architecture, Housing and Municipal Economy Irek Faizullin said that according to recent figures given by the State Labour Inspection on April 11, 2014, 14 accidents were registered in construction industry.

Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov took part in the meeting.

Reporting on observance of occupational safety rules in construction industry, Irek Faizullin said that the State Construction Supervision Inspection carried out 312 inspections from the beginning of 2014. He noted that 91 resolutions for the sum of 2 million 660 thousand roubles were passed. Penalties for the sum of 810 thousand roubles were collected.

Within the framework of a month's campaign dated to the World Day for Safety and Health at Work held on April 28 by initiative of International Labour Organization, municipalities and construction organizations hold seminars, exhibitions, round tables, and review contests.

On April 11 Ministry of Construction, Russian Labour Union of Builders, and Tatarstan Union of Builders held the 8th professional review contest “KVN” for the title “Best experts of occupational safety and labour legislation in construction industry of the Republic of Tatarstan 2014”.

Commenting of the situation with safety compliance at construction sites, Ildar Khalikov said that in spite of solid work carried out by the Ministry of Construction, there are not tangible results observed.

“We may waste time by holding different events and contests, if people are still dying at construction sites, and the number of fatal cases increases,” Ildar Khalikov said.

Summing up, Tatarstan Prime Minister called for observing safety rules and intensifying work of supervision bodies at construction sites.
