Tatarstan economic and investment potential presented in Beijing

On April 16 presentation of Tatarstan economic and investment potential for Chinese businessmen was held at Russian Embassy in Beijing. Members of Tatarstan delegation led by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the event. Representatives of Chinese companies working in different spheres were invited to the presentation.
Opening the event, Ambassador Andrey Denisov welcomed Tatarstan delegation, and noted that Tatarstan is a unique republic within the Russian Federation. “By the level of development it competes with many countries around the world. It is characteristic of ambitious economic opportunities,” he said.
Andrey Denisov continued that relations between Russian and China are rapidly developing, and interregional contacts are important for cooperation. Volga regions more actively cooperate with Chinese regions.
Rustam Minnikhanov noted that 58 people are on Tatarstan delegation. He noted high level of cooperation between Russia and China.
Tatarstan Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov presented industrial potential of Tatarstan. Among prospective areas of cooperation he pointed out creation of new and modernization of old power engineering facilities. He called Chinese colleagues for cooperation in oil production, transport and tourism spheres.
Telling about Innopolis IT city, Minister of Information and Communication Roman Shaikhutdinov noted that foreign project developers and producers of high-tech equipment express interest in the project.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov, in his turn, presented investment opportunities of Tatarstan agriculture. He supposes that Chinese companies may organize production of plant treatment agents in Tatarstan.
Chief Executive of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Linar Yakupov told about investment opportunities of “Smart City Kazan”. Director General of SEZ “Alabuga” Timur Shagivaleev presented advantages of the special economic zone.
Finally, agreement between Tatarstan and Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry on export and import of mechanical and technical produce was signed.
On 9 June upon his arrival to the Kazan International Airport, the Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov was welcomed by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin.
In Kazan Sergey Lavrov will take part in a meeting of the Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of State-Participants of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
On 5 May, speaking at a regular meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin informed that currently 63 school catering units are under repairs with the amount of work completed reaching 15 per cent.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
