Rustam Minnikhanov meets with executives of China’s largest state corporations

On April 16, during his stay in China, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met with executives of China’s leading state corporations.
The opportunities of attracting investments in Tatarstan economy were discussed at the meeting with President of Chinese Investment Corporation (CIC) Li Keping.
Li Keping told that being investment foundation with 100 per cent state capital, Chinese Investment Corporation invests in foreign securities and assets, with the total amount of investments exceeding 200 billion US dollars.
According to Li Keping, particular attention is paid to long term assets. In addition to European countries and the USA the corporation invests in the developing countries. Russia is one of the priority investment areas for the CIC. The corporation has already invested 5 billion roubles US dollars in the Russian economy, including 4 billion of direct investments.
Rustam Minnikhanov told Li Keping about major investment projects being implemented in the republic in the oil and gas sector, as well as serious plans to modernize energy facilities.
Rustam Minnikhanov addressed Li Keping with a request to assign a specialist to Tatarstan to get a closer look at investment opportunities of the republic.
“We are ready to present our business projects, which we could implement together, to you . I am sure that you could find many interesting projects in Tatarstan,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.
During his meeting with leadership of China Poly Group Corporation, which is one of the largest state corporations in the defense industry in Chinese People’s Republic, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Poly Group is well known in Russia and Tatarstan. “We have many interesting projects and we are willing to cooperate with you,” Rustam Minnikhanov said addressing Poly Group’s management.
It was agreed to assign a working group to study further prospects of cooperation between the Poly Group and Tatarstan.
At the end of their working programme to Beijing, Tatarstan delegation met with member of the Chinese State Council Yang Jiechi. Rustam Minnikhanov told Yang Jiechi about the work of the delegation done during the visit. He specifically thanked the leadership of the Chinese People’s Republic for the attention paid to the Tatars in China and opportunities given to preserve their national traditions and culture.
Yang Jiechi expressed his confidence that the visit of the Tatarstan delegation will contribute to dynamic development of relations between China and Tatarstan and confirmed that the Chinese leadership is ready to support joint projects between China and Tatarstan.
Tomorrow, during the final day of his visit to China, Rustam Minnikhanov will head for Hong Kong.

On 9 May Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument “The victorious soldier” dedicated to the celebrations of the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WW II) 1941-1945 and held at Arsk cemetery in Kazan.
On 8 May, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin reported that capital overhaul of social facilities is in full swing in the republic with 170 educational facilities having been included into regional and federal programmes.
On 4 May at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Government House it was told that currently there are 92 combat veterans, the last witnesses of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) of 1941-1945, living in the republic. The briefing also informed about veterans’ support measures and how the republic is planning to celebrate the Victory Day on 9 May.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva told that names of 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tatarstan “ are immortalized in street names, on memorials, in monuments and squares and, of course, in our memory”. “The Victory Day is the day of memory, mourning and joy. It is the event which today should be clearly understandable to all young people and younger generation of Tatarstan,” she said.
