Rustam Minnikhanov meets with Prime Minister of Iraqi Kurdistan

On May 3, during his visit to Iraqi Kurdistan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met with Prime Minister of Regional Government of Kurdish autonomous region Nechirvan Barzani.
Aide to Tatarstan President on international issues Radik Gimatdinov, First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ruslan Kabirov, Director General of OAO “Tatneft” Nail Maganov, Director General of OAO “KAMAZ” Sergey Kogogin, Director General of OAO “TAIF” Albert Shigabutdinov, and Director for marketing and sales of OAO “Kazan helicopters” Valery Pashko took part in the meeting.
Nechirvan Barzani welcomed Rustam Minnikhanov and members of the delegation. Rustam Minnikhanov told about geographic location and economic development of the republic. Members of the delegation told about their enterprises and opportunities they can offer to Iraqi Kurdistan.
Nechirvan Barzani was especially interested in Tatarstan experience in the sphere of oil processing. He also noted that KAMAZ vehicles are popular in Iraq, because once 3.5 thousand trucks were supplied to Iraq under the programme “Oil in exchange for food”. Therefore, KAMAZ company can enter the market again starting from Kurdistan. “We are interested in cooperation with your oil-processing and petrochemical enterprises, in your helicopters and trucks. Now the main issue is how to continue cooperation,” Prime Minister of Iraqi Kurdistan said.
Rustam Minnikhanov suggested organizing a working group to study opportunities of cooperation in details, and invited Nechirvan Barzani to visit Tatarstan.
On 13 April in his congratulatory address on the occasion of the Maecenas and Benefactor Day, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: "Tatarstan has always been known for its generous and kind-hearted people who are ready to help the needy and support important social, cultural and educational projects. We all remember with gratitude the outstanding philanthropists – the Akchurin brothers, the Alafuzovs, and the Ushkovs, whose good deeds and generous donations contributed to the development of culture, education, and healthcare in our republic. The glorious traditions are continued by modern philanthropists and patrons of Tatarstan.
On 12 April in his address to residents of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated them with the Space Exploration Day and said: “April 12, 1961 has forever been inscribed into the world history as the day of triumph of the Soviet science and engineering thought. The flight of Yuriy Gagarin opened the way to the stars for the humankind and demonstrated to the whole world the might of our country.
On 4 April , speaking at a closing ceremony of the XX Russian Venture Forum held at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the Russian Venture Forum has confirmed its status of the point of attraction of technological development leaders.
The Forum created a unified scientific, technological and investment space where scientific ideas are transformed into competitive products, and startups gain access to capital and markets. Its business programme is organically integrated into the regional and federal agenda for achieving technological sovereignty and leadership of Russia, he said.
On 1 April Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Russian Minister of Healthcare Mikhail Murashko introduced Ayrat Farrakhov, who was appointed the Acting Rector of Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) to its staff.
In his speech Mikhail Murashko emphasized that today KSMU is rightfully considered one of the most respected in the country and said:”Ayrat (Zakievich) has been officially appointed the Acting Rector and I am sure that under his leadership the University will maintain the positions it has achieved and, of course, will continue its development.”
