Rustam Minnikhanov: “We would like to cooperate with Iraqi Kurdistan businessmen”

On May 3, at his meeting with businessmen of Iraqi Kurdistan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan leadership is interested in development of trade and economic relations with Kurdish Autonomous Region.
Consul General of Russia in Erbil Valery Pospelov, Aide to Tatarstan President on international issues Radik Gimatdinov, Director General of OAO “Tatneft” Nail Maganov, Director General of OAO “KAMAZ” Sergey Kogogin, Director General of OAO “TAIF” Albert Shigabutdinov, and Director for marketing and sales of OAO “Kazan helicopters” Valery Pashko took part in the meeting.
Tatarstan President thanked Kurdistan businessmen for the meeting. “The purpose of our visit is to expand economic, cultural, and educational cooperation between our regions,” he said.
Rustam Minnikhanov told about Tatarstan economic development and major enterprises. “We are very impressed by rapid development of your region, and would like to cooperate with you. You can also find opportunities in Tatarstan,” he added.
Rustam Minnikhanov continued that he had discussed organization of the visit of Kurdistan delegation to Tatarstan with President and Prime Minister of Iraqi Kurdistan.
Kurdistan businessmen, in their turn, told about their companies.
“We are interested in many projects you told us about. Some of them can be implemented in your region, other – in Tatarstan. I am sure that we should activate joint work,” Rustam Minnikhanov noted.
Summing up, Tatarstan President said that Kurdistan and Tatarstan have wide opportunities for cooperation in engineering, petrochemical, construction, cultural and educational spheres.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
