The progress of the operation “Nerest – 2014” discussed at Tatarstan Government House

On May 5, at a meeting held by Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov at Tatarstan Government House, the progress of the operation “Nerest – 2014” was discussed.

To the point, the complex preventive operation “Nerest -2014” aimed at preservation and rational use of water biological resources, control of the activities of corporate entities, having a fishing license, as well as prevention of poaching during spring and summer time is being held in Tatarstan from April 25 to June 10.

Opening the meeting, Ildar Khalikov said that this period is important for a number of activity areas, including preservation of water biological resources. He reminded that the operation “Nerest-2014” has already started and said that last year the progress was achieved in preventing crimes. “We can see that this work is yielding certain results,” he said.

Ildar Khalikov also noted that due to the support of Tatarstan President the decision to apply special equipment to prevent poaching networks was made.

Head of Tatarstan Department for protection and use of wildlife objects Dmitry Ivanov reported more details on the situation. In particular, he said that a certain quantity of illegal fishing gears left by poachers was seized from reservoirs in Tatarstan. According to Dmitry Invanov, fishing mills in the Kuibyshev reservoir along the Kama and Volga rivers are a great problem.

According to the results of the complex preventive operation “Nerest -2013” that was held from April 25 to June 10, 2013, employees of the Department for protection and use of wildlife objects together with subordinated budgetary institution “Center for implementing innovative technologies in the field of wildlife preservation”, 473 raids were performed, 26 persons were brought to responsibility within the scope of the power available and 763 illegal fishing gears (networks) were seized.
