On May 25, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov addressed Tatarstan citizens on the occasion of Russian folk festival “Karavon”.
“Dear Tatarstan citizens! From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you on a bright and lively Russian folk festival “Karavon,” which is traditionally celebrated in Laishevo region! Today, “Karavon”, involving more and more participants of different nationalities and religions into its wide round dance, is known not only in Tatarstan but far beyond its borders. It has become one of cultural features of the republic, taking its place among other famous folk festivals.
"Karavon" teaches us to be kind and understand each other, promotes careful attitude to the native language, constructive labour and nature and instills respect for its historical roots. The development and promotion of these eternal spiritual values is becoming even more important in the Year of Culture.
All together we restored the ancient church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, which has become a major local landmark and center of spiritual life of dwellers of Russkoe Nikolskoe village.
Let this wonderful festival bring joy to all of us with its originality and diversity of colours.
I sincerely wish participants and guests of Karavon festival good mood, sound health, happiness and prosperity!
