On June 19, at a meeting held by Presidential Envoy in Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich at the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kazan, prospects for the development of “Safe City” complex were discussed. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the meeting.
Before the meeting, Mikhail Babich was demonstrated the “Safe City” system in operation and saw the staff, monitoring images from surveillance cameras installed in the republic, at work.
Opening the meeting, Michail Babich reminded that the system is used in many Russian cities. However, the systems have different technical and technological features in different cities. “Unfortunately, we often lag behind the capabilities provided by manufacturers. As a result, funds are spent not to maximum effect,” Michail Babich pointed out.
He noted the active development of private security systems. "This is a great resource for law enforcement bodies, so you should make use of their capabilities," Michail Babich continued.
"One more issue is who should deal with the development and maintenance of the system. We need to find standard technical solutions that will allow us to create a unified security management system in each constituent entity. To do this, first we should understand what we already have in the regions, and learn the best practices to define what we are lagging behind. "
