On July 2, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov awarded medal “For valorous labour” to the Children's Rights Commissioner for the President of the Russian Federation Pavel Astakhov, who arrived in Tatarstan with a working visit.

Pavel Astakhov visited Elabuga children’s home, first children’s hospice, and Raifa special school. In the afternoon Pavel Astakhov met with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov. He said the medal “For valorous labour” was a surprise for him. After the meeting the Children's Rights Commissioner told journalists that Tatarstan is ready to receive and offer jobs to Ukrainian refugees.

“We discussed tragic events happening in Ukraine and the inflow of refugees. We received messages from Naberezhnye Chelny businessmen that they are ready to provide jobs for Ukrainian refugees. Ordinary people also say they are willing to receive people from Ukraine. Head of Elabuga region said they need people to work at production facilities. Ukrainian refugees are educated people, able to work. We speak the same language and we are ready to receive them. I will be glad if Tatarstan citizens will treat them as relatives, provide housing, social aid and jobs,” Pavel Astakhov said. He noted that there are Ukrainian refugees who have already come to 48 Russian regions.

He continued that during his meeting with Rustam Minnikhanov they agreed on considering opportunities that can be provided in Tatarstan. “Tatarstan President gave certain assignments and soon we will know how many people can be received in Tatarstan,” he said.

Summing up, Pavel Astakhov said that Tatarstan experience in rendering help to children without parental support should be promoted throughout the country.
