4 July 2014, Friday

On July 4, after the oil summit in Bugulma region, Tatarstan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Russian Deputy Minister of Energy Kirill Molodtsov told journalists that TANECO refinery (Nizhnekamsk) production capacities can be increased twice.

According to Rustam Minnikhanov, initially 14 million tonnes of oil were meant to be refined at the plant, however, certain technological solutions were required. He noted that this year 9 million tonnes of oil will be refined at the plant. Tatarstan President thanked Russian Ministry of Energy and Transneft company for support.

Kirill Molodtsov, in his turn, noted that TANECO was included in Russian Energy Strategy considering that its economic efficiency will be achieved with capacities of 14 million tonnes.

TANECO Board Chairman Nail Maganov said that the increase of primary processing capacity to 8 million tonnes was a solid achievement for Tatneft (Tatarstan oil company). More than 4 million tonnes of oil were refined in the first quarter of 2014. The refining efficiency made 74.5 per cent.

In 2014, the amount of refined oil is expected to make 8.5 million tonnes, in 2015 – 9 million tonnes. Moreover, high-viscosity index oil for making commercial oil for cars and industrial equipment are to be produced.

Construction of advanced oil refining plant and delayed coking unit will be another stage of TANECO development.
