34 accidents occurred in Tatarstan construction industry over six months of 2014

On July 5, at a video conference held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov at Tatarstan Government House, Tatarstan Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Irek Faizullin reported that 34 accidents, including 13 fatal cases and 21 accidents with severe injuries, have taken place in the construction industry of Tatarstan over six months of 2014.
Irek Faizullin reported that 9 (26 per cent) of 34 accidents occurred as a result of road traffic incidents during business trips. The main causes of accidents that occurred at construction sites are falls from height (14 accidents or 41 per cent) and falling objects (7 accidents or 21 per cent).
Irek Faizullin also reminded that the Inspection of State Construction Supervision has conducted 496 inspections since the beginning of 2014. As a result, 247 resolutions for a total amount of 8 million 794 thousand roubles have been issued for violations of the rules and safety standards. As of today, 3 million 432 thousand roubles of penalties have been collected.
Since the beginning of 2014, disciplinary actions have been taken against 123 organizations found to have violations of occupational safety, 60 licensees have been suspended.

On 28 February, speaking at a meeting held by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference , the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin informed that 170 educational facilities will have capital overhaul by federal and regional programmes, having added that the bulk of the projects are planned to begin at the start of the summer holidays.
