Economic effect from holding World Summer Universiade in Kazan made 10.8 billion roubles

On July 8, at a briefing at Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers, Director General of ANO “Executive office “Kazan 2013” Azat Kadyrov said according to special research on Universiade influence on the region's development the economic effect from holding World Summer Universiade in Kazan made 10.8 billion roubles.
The research included two main criteria, direct and indirect economic effect. The direct economic effect reflects economic changes in sales of the company which provides goods and services to participants of the event. The indirect economic effect shows changes in sales of companies connected with providers of services needed to hold the event.
Azat Kadyrov said that total economic effect made 10.8 billion roubles, including the direct economic effect – 6.2 billion roubles (hotels and restaurants – 2 billion roubles, organizations rendering professional services – 2.8 billion roubles, retail trade – 0.3 billion roubles), the indirect economic effect – 4.6 billion roubles (providers of utility, energy resources, retail trade, equipment leasing).
Besides economic effect the city had other social and economic benefits. Within a short period of time 23 city roads, 11 transport junctions, 41 pedestrian crossings and 73 city streets were built.
On 12 January, congratulating employees of the prosecutor’s office with their professional holiday - Day of the employee of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation- Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin wrote in his address:
“For more than three centuries the prosecutor's office has been the guardian of state and public security as well as constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens of our country.
On 10 January, speaking at a meeting held by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin in the Government House of the republic with all municipality regions taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatutllin informed that in the current year the Ministry will take part in implementation of five national projects and three state programmes with planned construction and capital overhaul of 172 facilities for the total sum of 17bn rubles.
On 10 January, speaking at a meeting held by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin in the Government House of the republic with all municipality regions taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Zyabbarov informed that it is expected to achieve a comparable growth of produce of 1.5%, including that in food production - at least 2.6% in the agricultural sector.
On 4 January Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, who is the First Deputy Chairman of the Commission of prevention and elimination of emergency situation and ensuring fire safety of the republic, has taken a decision to put into operation the “Buran” (Snow storm) plan in Tatarstan starting from 2 pm on 4 January until the consequences of adverse meteorological events are eliminated by ministries, departments and organizations which ensure the smooth movement of road and rail transport in winter.
