2 August 2014, Saturday
On August 2, at a regional meeting at Tatarstan Government House held by Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov with the participation of all municipal regions, Tatarstan Prime Minister – Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov reported that as of August 2, 280,000 hectares or 17 per cent of arable areas have been thrashed in Tatarstan.

Marat Akhmetov told about the weather forecast for the next two weeks and noted that this is particularly important for farmers in terms of the harvesting campaign. According to him, the grain moisture today is quite suitable for storage. Good harvest rates are one of the main tasks for today, the Minister said.

Many farms are close to the completion of the first stage of the harvesting of grain and pea crop, the Minister continued.

Ildar Khalikov asked to focus on successful harvesting. Every day may be loss-incuring, therefore it is especially important to organise the harvesting process properly, he said.

Then, Marat Akhmetov reported on the procurement of fodder in the republic. As of August 2, 1,003,000 tonnes of fodder units, including 509,600 tonnes of hay have been conserved. As of today, 16.5 centners of fodder units per one conventional head have been procured.
