Tatarstan President looks around new embankment of the Kazanka River

On August 7, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov inspected the improvement works on the Kazanka embankment. Accompanied by Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, Head of Executive Committee of Kazan Denis Kalinkin, Tatarstan Minister of Construction, Architecture, Housing and Utilities Services Irek Faizullin, he walked along the embankment from the National Cultural Center «Kazan» to the Kremlin.
When walking by the National Cultural Center "Kazan", Rustam Minnikhanov suggested that Director General of Production and Construction Association "Kazan" Ravil Ziganshin should arrange an outdoor swimming pool here. According to the President, this can be rather a successful investment project, as the pool on the opposite side of the river is very popular with the citizens.
Rustam Minnikhanov walked along the square near the Farmers’ Palace, where together with other participants of the detour he came to the site where the High-Diving World Cup will start tomorrow. Here Tatarstan President was met by First Vice-President of the Russian Swimming Federation Dmitry Sautin and members of the Executive Committee of the International Aquatics Federation headed by FINA President Julio Maglione.
Head of the Sports Projects Executive Directorate Azat Kadyrov reported to Tatarstan President on the readiness of the sports facility for the competitions, and then together with the honorable guests, Rustam Minnikhanov watched high-divers holding their training session.
On 8 May, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin reported that capital overhaul of social facilities is in full swing in the republic with 170 educational facilities having been included into regional and federal programmes.
On 4 May at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Government House it was told that currently there are 92 combat veterans, the last witnesses of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) of 1941-1945, living in the republic. The briefing also informed about veterans’ support measures and how the republic is planning to celebrate the Victory Day on 9 May.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva told that names of 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tatarstan “ are immortalized in street names, on memorials, in monuments and squares and, of course, in our memory”. “The Victory Day is the day of memory, mourning and joy. It is the event which today should be clearly understandable to all young people and younger generation of Tatarstan,” she said.

On 24 April in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin held a joint meeting the Council for Enforcement of Legislation of Languages of Tatarstan and the organizational committee for celebrations of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay which summarized results of work of the regional law enforcement on official languages of the republic and considered progress of the implementation of the plan of main events for preparation and celebration of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay .
