Tatarstan President: “Our social projects depend on the stability of our economy”

On August 25, at his meeting with activists of Bavly region, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that successful implementation of all regional projects depends on the stability of the Tatarstan’s economy.
At the beginning of the meeting, Head of Bavly region Albert Khabibullin, who also took part in the meeting, reported on the social and economic indicators of the region development. Thus, according to him, in the last five years Bavly region has implemented regional programmes to the amount of more than 1.5 billion roubles. This year, 26 programmes totaling to 320 million roubles are underway in the region.
Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov expressed his confidence in a successful future of Bavly region. “Today we have seen a lot of interesting projects and I am sure that the region has a future, since hard-working people live here,” he said.
“The republic is demonstrating a lot of positive results on a national scale. The main criterion for evaluation of our work is the quality of life,” Tatarstan President pointed out.
One of the most significant achievements Tatarstan had made in the last years Rustam Minnikhanov called the improvements in the demographic situation due to a number of large-scale programmes for the development of social infrastructure, being implemented in the republic. "It is very important to provide conditions for the life of our citizens. We are implementing a number of regional programmes, and each region is involved in them,” Minnikhanov said.
“All social projects depend on the stability of our economy,”Rustam Minnikhanov reminded.
According to him, the oil production and refining is the basis of the Tatarstan economy. "The working conditions of oil workers are becoming complicated every year, but we are employing new technologies, developing hard-to-recover reserves, bitumen oil. This means that the oil industry has the resource potential for many years,” Tatarstan President noted.
He told about the new large-scale projects, which are underway in various sectors of the economy. Rustam Minnikhanov noted that new enterprises will provide the GRP growth and create new highly paid jobs. At the same time, Rustam Minnikhanov said that the republic cannot achieve the desired economic growth rate of 6-7% per year so far, and this is mainly due to the difficult situation in the overseas markets. "Therefore, we need to focus more on the domestic consumption," Tatarstan President said.
According to Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan’s agricultural industry should be ready for new challenges. The restrictions on food importfrom abroad now allow Tatarstan villagers developing their own production. The regional leadership is making every effort so that the farmers can sell their products.
According to Tatarstan Presiden, the farmers of Bavly region are now facing the task to successfully complete the harvesting campaign and carry out the autumn sowing.
The participants of the meeting asked Rustam Minnikhanov how restrictions on food import from abroad would affect the consumers. Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan has a surplus of meat and milk and it is a good chance for the local villagers to come into the Russian markets.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
