Tatarstan presents its exposition at Havana International Fair

On November 2, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov, Aide to Tatarstan President on international and foreign economic affairs Radik Gimatdinov, Director General of OAO “KAMAZ” Sergey Kogogin, Director General of OAO “Tatneft” Nail Maganov, Board Chairman of Tatarstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shamil Ageev, and Chief Executive of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina took part in opening of the 32nd Havana International Fair (FIHAV).
The Fair is being held under the auspices of Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Foreign Investments and Cooperation, and Chamber of Commerce at Expocuba exhibition center on November 2-8. It is one of the biggest exhibitions in Latin America. About 2,000 companies from 60 countries take part in the event.
Participants of the fair get familiar with new opportunities of investments in Cuban economy in connection with enactment of the law about foreign investments and creation of Mariel special development zone.
Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investments – Co-Chairman of Intergovernmental Russia-Cuba commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation Rodrigo Malmierca addressed participants of the 32nd Havana International Fair with welcoming speech. He congratulated all guests and participants of the exhibition on opening of the event and wished them successful work.
The Republic of Tatarstan presented the produce of OAO “KAMAZ” Automobile Corporation, OAO “Tatchempharmpreparaty” pharmaceutical company, and OAO “Kazan helicopters” at the Russian exposition organized by the Export Corporation of the republic that opened at the fair.
Speaking at opening of the Russian exposition, Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Georgy Kalamanov said that the trade turnover between Russia and Cuba should be increased.
Tatarstan President welcomed participants of the event on behalf of the Republic of Tatarstan, - one of the leading regions in Russia. “Today we are here with a big delegation representing OAO “KAMAZ”, OAO “Tatneft”, and OAO “Kazan helicopters”. The processes taking place in Cuba and measures taken to increase investment attractiveness are very efficient,” Tatarstan President said and invited the guests to see Tatarstan exposition.
A number of agreements were signed in the presence of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Ambassador of Russia to Cuba Mikhail Kalmynin during the work of Tatarstan delegation at the exhibition.
Kazan Federal University signed two agreements with Havana University and Havana Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. Also, an agreement was signed between Tatarstan and Cuba Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Volga State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism and Cuba National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation signed a Memorandum on cooperation.
At a business forum “Russia-Cuba: ahead and together” Rustam Minnikhanov said that the event is a great opportunity to find new business partners and sign new contracts. “We are aimed at increasing trade turnover between the countries and we are ready to make every effort to achieve it,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.
Tatarstan President also met Cuban students, who studied at Tatarstan universities in 80s, and invited them to the 210th anniversary of Kazan Federal University and national holiday “Sabantui”.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
On May 14, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, who arrived on a working visit in Kazan to take part in the events of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, was met by Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin and other officials at the Kazan International Airport.
