Safari park and artificially created mountain to appear at Kazan zoo

On November 11, at a briefing held at Tatarstan Government House on major reconstruction of Kazan zoo held at Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers it was reported that the area of Kazan zoo would be enlarged 2.3 times next year.
Tatarstan Minister of Construction, Architecture, Housing and Utilities Irek Faizullin, who took part in the briefing, said: “Such a beautiful city as Kazan needs a modern zoo. We received a relevant order from Tatarstan President, and we looked around the zoo territory on Saturday. We have started developing the plan of reconstruction.”
The Minister continued that the sketch reconstruction plan developed by Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt institute will be considered at a public discussion. The final project will be approved afterwards, and reconstruction works will be started.
According to Head of the Kazan City Council Denis Kalinkin, the area will be enlarged by using the adjacent territory of the Rowing Center.
The initial project includes a research center, greenhouse, petting zoo, children’s playgrounds, café, restaurant and administrative buildings.
The first and second zones will be connected by a pedestrian and transport tunnel with an artificially created mountain and animal enclosures.
Also, it is planned to create a safari park with exotic animals, artificial pond, aquarium, dolphinarium, terrarium, butterfly garden, summer terrace, children's crafts and educational zones. The project will be realized in three stages.
The reconstruction plan will be discussed with experts of the City Council, Ministry of Construction and managers of Kazan zoo. Then, the final sketch, budget and contracting organizations will be approved.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
