Cuba and Tatarstan to renew cooperation in the sphere of education

On December 5, at their meeting at Tatarstan Government House, rectors of Cuban universities and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov agreed that Tatarstan and Cuba would renew cooperation in the sphere of education. Ambassador of Cuba to Russia Emilio Losada Garcia took part in the meeting.
Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed the guests and thanked them for coming to Kazan for participation in the forum of rectors of Russian and Cuban universities and the 210th anniversary of Kazan Federal University. He also reminded that Tatarstan delegation visited Havana in November 2014, when business meetings were held and agreements on cooperation were signed.
Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan and Cuba have long-standing relations, the republic supplies helicopters, KAMAZ trucks, and tyres to Cuba. Also, mutual cooperation can be developed in innovative areas, such as medicine, pharmaceutics and new technologies.
Tatarstan President focused on renewing cooperation in the sphere of education and briefly told about economy of the republic. “We are proud of our universities with 5.5 foreign students studying there," he said.
Emilio Losada Garcia, in his turn, congratulated Kazan Federal University on its 210th anniversary. He also noted that graduates of Russian universities hold top positions in governing bodies and agencies in his country.
Losada Garcia said that his country is interested in supplies of KAMAZ trucks for Cuba and other Latin American countries, modernization and expansion of tyre production. In particular, Cuban colleagues offer Tatarstan specialists taking part in launching a tyre production. Other areas of potential are pharmaceutics and tourism.
Losada Garcia showed Rustam Minnikhanov an official document confirming the purchase of two Kazan helicopters. As for education, the ambassador said that his country is interested in renewal and expansion of contacts.
Losada Garcia noted that Tatarstan is the only Russian region with which Cuba established close and successful relations in many spheres.

On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
On May 14, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, who arrived on a working visit in Kazan to take part in the events of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, was met by Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin and other officials at the Kazan International Airport.
