Keel-laying ceremony of two cable type ships of project 15310 held at Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant named after A.Gorky

On January 6, a solemn keel-laying ceremony of two cable type ships of project 15310 was held at the Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant named after A.Gorky (the company is part of the group of companies OAO “Holding Company „AK bars”). Deputy Defence Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, Head of Zelenodolsk municipal region Alexander Tygin, Director General of the Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant named after A. Gorky Renat Mistakhov and other officials took part in the ceremony.

The ships are designed to be used to lay and repair submarine cable lines of communication. By the order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy the ships were given names “Volga” and “Vyatka”.

Opening the solemn event, Mistakhov expressed his gratitude to the Russian Government, leadership of the Russian Navy for a high-level of confidence due to which the plant workers have the opportunity to start the new 2015 year with labour victories.

Congratulating the plant workers on the beginning of the construction of a new series of ships, Borisov called them pioneers of this trend and the construction of ships – a new step in the development of the plant. He expressed his confidence that the ships will be built in a quality and  timely manner, and also noted that the Russian Defence Ministry plans to continue placing orders for the construction of new types and projects of ships at the Zeleonolsk Shipbuilding Plant.

Khalikov began his speech with congratulations of factory workers on the successful completion of 2014. He called the last year "the year of reliability and confidence" for Zelenodolsk shipbuilders. In 2014 the plant began construction of four ships and successfully delivered three military ships to the customer. According to the Prime Minister, this was the result of the valorous work and high professionalism of factory workers. Ildar Khalikov called the ceremony a historical event for the plant.
