A plant to assemble laser systems to be built in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone

On January 27, at their meeting at Tatarstan Government House, Tatartsan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Director General of STA “IRE-Polus” Valentin Gapontsev discussed current issues of the company activity in the republic, particularly, the functioning of the KAI-Laser Center. Also, the parties have come to an agreement to build a plant to assemble laser systems in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone.  

In the presence of Minnikhanov and Gapontsev, First Deputy Director General of the IRE-Polus Andrey Ushakov and Director General of the SEZ “Alabuga” signed an agreement of intent to build the plant. It is supposed that the project will be considered by the Supervisory Council of the SEZ “Alabuga” and Expert Council under the Russian Ministry of Economic Development in the near future.

Also, Gapontsev and Rector of Tupolev Kazan National Research Technical University Albert Gilmutdinov, who took part in the meeting, signed a roadmap for the construction of a separate engineering and training building for laser technology at the university campus.
