30 January 2015, Friday

On January 30, speaking at the  collegium session of RT Department of Federal Service of the Russian Federation for the Control of Drug Trafficking, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov appreciated the activity of the department, noting the current tense situation in the republic of Tatarstan to require reconsideration of some measures and changes in existing legislation.

“We observe that the amount of drug addicts and cases of drug intoxication are reduced”, Ildar Khalikov added.

“Heroine abuse is being replaced by spice one which is new synthetic drug. 110 kilos of spices were retrieved by law enforcement bodies that is 3 times more than in 2013. More than 80 new kinds of synthetic drugs to be included in prohibited addictive drugs list have been identified within the last three years. In 2014 Russian regions have seen epidemic of fatal spice poisoning. Tatarstan law enforcement bodies took timely measures and prevented its spread in the republic. The anti-drug campaign "Life without Drugs" became one of the effective measures to combat drugs. In 2014 drug control police blocked 23 channels of delivering drugs. Three drug syndicates were liquidated. Work on revealing drug smuggling has improved.  Special attention should be paid to the Internet as 61 websites to sale drugs were revealed”, Chief of Federal Agency for Drug Control in Tatarstan Republic Fayaz Shabaev reported.

Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov concluded that effective measures should be taken in revealing new ways of drug delivery and sales.
