Rustam Minnikhanov: Kazan is of special importance for the republic

On March 4, speaking at the 41st session of Kazan City Duma, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the leadership of Kazan knows how to make rational use of budget funds.
Welcoming participants of the meeting, Minnikhanov noted that year by year Tatarstan confirms its reputation of the region able to fulfill ambitious goals and achieve leadership results.
"The Republic is still among the leading regions of Russia in terms of agricultural production (3rd place), the volume of investment in fixed assets (5th place) and industrial production (5th place)," Tatarstan President said.
According to him, due to large-scale investment projects in the field of mechanical engineering, IT industry, petrochemical and gas and agriculture complexes the regional economy is successfully developing.
"Kazan is of special importance for the republic. Our capital is ranked sixth among the Russian cities in terms of population, which makes 1 million 206 thousand people. Over a third of the gross regional product is formed here, with the gross territorial product of the city amounted to 560 million roubles," Minnikhanov said.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
On 1 December Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in N.I. Lobachevsky Prize and Medal Award Ceremony held in Kazan Federal University and handed in the award to the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chief Researcher of the St. Petersburg Department of Steklov Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Ivanov who was awarded for the outstanding achievements in fundamental and applied mathematics.
