Rustam Minnikhanov offers to hold session of Russian-Iranian commission on trade and economic cooperation in Kazan

On March 9, at his meeting with Bijan Namdar Zangeneh, Iranian Oil Minister, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov suggested holding a session of Russian-Iranian commission on trade and economic cooperation in Kazan.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Bijan Namdar Zangeneh for the meeting and noted that he appreciates an opportunity to develop cooperation with Iran within the framework of cooperation between Russia and Iran.

Tatarstan President briefly presented the industrial potential of the republic saying that 6.3 per cent (about 33 million tonnes per year) of Russian oil, 50 per cent of polystyrol, 48 per cent of polyethylene, and 46 per cent of synthetic rubber are produced in Tatarstan.

According to Minnikhanov, the prospective areas of cooperation are oil production and oil processing. He reminded that Tatneft Oil Company has worked with Iranian companies since 1996.

Rustam Minnikhanov and Bijan Namdar Zangeneh discussed cooperation in the sphere of staff training and professional improvement of oil industry workers.

Rustam Minnikhanov also held meetings with Iranian Minister of industry, mining and trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh and Minister of foreign affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif.
