On April 1, speaking at a meeting of Tatarstan Government dedicated to implementation of a state programme of energy-saving and advanced energy-efficiency of the republic in 2014-2020, Acting Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan enterprises have great energy saving potential.

The event was held in Kazan at the Kazan Fair Exhibition Center within the framework of the opening of the XVI International specialized exhibition "Energy. Resource saving "and XV International symposium "Energy and resource efficiency and energy saving". Acting Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin, Chairman of the State Council Farid Mukhametshin, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov, representatives of federal and regional authorities and other officials took part in the meeting.

Welcoming participants, Minnikhanov noted that the national industry needs to remain competitive under the current economic conditions. According to him, to do this it is necessary to develop energy saving programme: to introduce modern technology, new management systems and lean production technologies. He stressed that the major Tatarstan companies have realized it earlier and work on this.

"We all need to be actively involved into this, starting from individual consumers to small and medium enterprises,” Rustam Minnikhanov said, adding that without the implementation of energy saving programmes regional enterprises will not be able to compete in the international market.
