10 April 2015, Friday
On April 10, at the Korston hotel, the Mir Holding Company (Turkey) presented its projects on establishing a specialized greenhouse facility in Tatarstan to Russian Agriculture Minister Nikolai Fyodorov and Acting Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.
Board Chairman of the Design Group company Mirmahmutoğulları Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Akhmetov, Tatarstan Minister of Economy Artem Zdunov and other officials took part in the event.
Mirmahmutoğulları Ibrahim told about establishing the specialized greenhouse to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, peppers, melons, etc. in the Alabuga special economic zone.
He continued that carbon dioxide and artificial light will not be used when growing fruits and vegetables as this leads to higher energy consumption. Mirmahmutoğulları is sure that a good harvest will be gathered due to the proper use of fertilizers.
He noted that in the near future they will open the greenhouse facility with an area of 5 hectares in the Alabuga zone, with a further increase in the area up to 1,000 hectares. A laboratory and a line for processing fruits and vegetables will be established as well. In the future, the company expects to produce 800 thousand tonnes of fruits and vegetables per year, which will allow Russia to reduce import volumes in this area, Ibrahim Mirmahmutoğulları says.
He added that for seven years the investment into the project will amount to about 2 billion 300 million US dollars, with the number of staff making 20,000 people.
Nikolai Fyodorov said that this ambitious and high-tech project complies with the new priorities of the Russian agricultural policy. "Greenhouse facilities with an area of 1000 hectares are a very bold decision. But if you are going to implement this project in Tatarstan, it is quite possible,” he said.
Nikolai Fyodorov asked Acting President of Tatarstan to help Turkish colleagues in the development of this project, so that it fit into the federal support system. "As I know Tatarstan quite well, I have confidence in projects that are being implemented here. Tatarstan is in position to implement any idea,” Fyodorov concluded.
In his turn Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan has a lot of support from the federal center. He stressed the need to thoroughly discuss the issues of tax benefits for future investors. "We need to see how this system will work. I think we can deal with it, "he summed up.
