Prime Minister of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov: the republic is interested in progress of business contacts with Belgium

The Republic Tatarstan is interested in progressing business contacts with Kingdom of Belgium. This was declared today by RT PM Rustam Minnikhanov at a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kingdom of Belgium to the Russian Federation Mr. Gi Triverau.

In Rustam Minnikhanov's opinion, «today our business relations should go up to a new level».

The meeting took place at the RT House of Government.

We remind that a visit itinerary of Kingdom of Belgium delegation led by Gi Triverau includes meetings in the RT Ministry of industry and trade, a meeting with President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, visiting techno-park "Idea", etc. For tomorrow, on November, 17th, holding address meetings with representatives of business-structures of Tatarstan is planned.

Receiving visitors, RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov told about structure of the economy of Tatarstan, implementing some major projects in the field of petrochemistry and oil refining, activity on attracting foreign investments, and presented opportunities of a special economic zone «Alabuga».

According to Rustam Minnikhanov, today «Alabuga» is one of two zones of industrial -production type in Russia, the best conditions for developing business have been created here.

Prime Minister informed, that for Tatarstan cooperation with business circles of Kingdom of Belgium can be interesting in such branches, as petrochemistry and oil refining, education, modernization of power system, ecology, pharmacy, medical industry.

In his turn, Ambassador of Kingdom of Belgium to Russia Gi Triverau confirmed, that today his country pays a big attention to cooperation with Russia as a whole and its regions. We observe of those changes that are taking place in your republic, he said. In opinion of Mr Ambassador, Belgium, probably, is insufficiently presented in Republic Tatarstan, first of all, by business contacts and the realized projects. He also paid attention that today there is an element of a competition between regions of Russia in the field of attracting investments in their economies.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kingdom of Belgium to Russia expressed interest in working with Tatarstan in such directions, as petrochemistry and oil refining, and education (training, preparation and retraining of highly skilled staff). In particular, the Ambassador mentioned that one of best known in Belgium business-schools had already opened its branch in St.-Petersburg.

RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov suggested to draw a plan of measures on results of the visit by delegation of Kingdom of Belgium - for the further targeted work, fastening and expansion of business contacts. He also suggested to organize business-mission of the Belgian businessmen to a special economic zone «Alabuga» - that they by their own eyes would have seen and appreciated the opportunities and conditions for business dealing in territory of Tatarstan.
