Special fire-prevention regime to be introduced in Tatarstan from December 15th to January 10th, 2010

Special fire-prevention regime will be in force in the Republic Tatarstan from December 15 to January 10, 2010. This has been announced today at the joint session of interdepartmental informed today at a joint session of interdepartmental co-ordinating committee on legal issues and the Commission on prevention and liquidation of emergency situations by chief RT state inspector and maintenance of RT fire safety Tahir Karimullin.

The session passed in a mode of video conference with all municipal regions taking part, it was held by RT first deputy Prime minister Ravil Muratov.

Tahir Karimullin reminded that namely on New Year's holidays traditionally the greatest number of fires occur. So, during from December 1st to January 31st, in 2009, there were 828 fires in which 90 people died (or about 38 % of total number of the perished in republic at fires for all year).

In total, according to data on December 1st, 2009, 238 people died.

RT chief state inspector on fire supervision stated that in period from December 9 to December 11, 95 entertainment institutions - night clubs, restaurants, cafe (all across Tatarstan 88 night clubs, but including cafe and restaurants, other places of a mass congestion of people had been covered by inspection. It has been revealed 747 violations of requirements of fire-prevention safety. This, first of all, blocking of fire escapes, blind gratings on windows, etc.

On 21 checked objects there were no fire extinguishers, 6 objects had no evacuation exits.

By results of checks 67 officials and 11 legal persons were called to administrative responsibility.
