One year ago, on June 23 in Doha, in accordance with the decision of the 38th session of UNESCO World Heritage Committee, Bolgar historical and archeological museum was inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage List.
It became the 1002nd property in the world and the 2nd property in Tatarstan inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage List.
Submission of Bolgar and Sviyazhsk to UNESCO World Heritage List is supported by the “Revival” Regional Foundation headed by the first President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev. The consistent work on promoting historical monuments of Sviyazhsk is carried out.
“We are still realizing the historical event that happened at the end of June last year in Doha, when inscription of Bolgar historical and archeological museum in UNESCO World Heritage List was considered. A year before in Pnomh Penh (Cambodia) the Committee recognized the global universal value of Bolgar . I want to underline that only those sites that become recognized global universal value are included in UNESCO World Heritage List. Therefore, by a majority of vote Bolgar was included in the list in Qatar. It was our common victory, the victory of our republic and our people,” Chairman of the Board of Guardians of the “Revival” Foundation Mintimer Shaimiev said.
