On July 20, during his working trip to Buryatia Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov accompanied by Head of the Republic of Buryatia Viacheslav Nagovitsyn visited the Iliynsk Woodworking Plant.

The Baikal Woodworking Company is Buryatia’s largest manufacturer and exporter of forest products. It incorporates timber procurement enterprises, reloading and processing yards, machinery and repair shops, etc.

While modernizing the plant, its sawing and wood processing lines were improved, and advanced equipment was purchased. The annual design capacity of the plant is 175,000 m3 of bolt timber and 100,000 m3 of woodchips.

Minnikhanov looked around the automated woodworking line, sawing shop and sorting line. While answering the question about markets for the products, company’s managers said the modernization allowed them to manufacture goods compliant with the foreign consumer requirements.

The most of the products are planned to be supplied to China, Japan, Middle East, North Africa and Europe.

Minnikhanov was also told about the future plans for the development of non-waste production, namely the second stage of the modernization. The project envisages the construction of kilns and plant for the production of pallets.
