Rustam Minnikhanov visits woodworking plant in Buryatia

On July 20, during his working trip to Buryatia Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov accompanied by Head of the Republic of Buryatia Viacheslav Nagovitsyn visited the Iliynsk Woodworking Plant.
The Baikal Woodworking Company is Buryatia’s largest manufacturer and exporter of forest products. It incorporates timber procurement enterprises, reloading and processing yards, machinery and repair shops, etc.
While modernizing the plant, its sawing and wood processing lines were improved, and advanced equipment was purchased. The annual design capacity of the plant is 175,000 m3 of bolt timber and 100,000 m3 of woodchips.
Minnikhanov looked around the automated woodworking line, sawing shop and sorting line. While answering the question about markets for the products, company’s managers said the modernization allowed them to manufacture goods compliant with the foreign consumer requirements.
The most of the products are planned to be supplied to China, Japan, Middle East, North Africa and Europe.
Minnikhanov was also told about the future plans for the development of non-waste production, namely the second stage of the modernization. The project envisages the construction of kilns and plant for the production of pallets.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
