6 August 2015, Thursday
On August 6, Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan together with Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Akhmetov, Head of Executive Committee of Almetyevsk region Airat Khairullin made a helicopter tour over the regional fields and met heads of agricultural associations and investors.
Minnikhanov appreciated the work of Almetyevsk grain-growers and wished them a successful harvesting campaign.
"We need to focus on those areas that are in demand today. There should not be empty and abandoned lands. The land should work! Local vegetables and fruit are better, tastier and healthier than import ones. We need to develop farming, increase the number of private farmsteads. We have government support, regional programmes are underway. It is necessary to train personnel and attract young people. We need to work on these issues, and nobody but you can cope with this task better," Minnikhanov said.
In their turn farmers thanked Minnikhanov for the implementation of programmes to support the agriculture.
Answering questions from the press, Minnikhanov noted the positive mood of all those involved in the harvesting campaign.
