7 September 2015, Monday
On September 7, during his working trip to Naberezhnye Chelny Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov met activists of the city.
Welcoming the audience, Minnikhanov noted that the difficult economic situation in the country influences the life of the republic and the automotive industry in particular. He continued that KAMAZ truck manufacturer includes more than 150 organizations located in Russia, the CIS and abroad. Together with related industries the number of citizens employed in the automotive industry is more than 52 thousand people, he said, adding that it is not surprising that the situation at the KAMAZ has a significant effect on the social well-being of the whole city.
"Nevertheless a number of measures to support the auto giant both at the federal and regional levels are being taken: a large-scale modernization of production facilities and search for new markets are underway. This means that we have a good perspective, strong teams,” Minnikhanov said.
He stressed that Naberezhnye Chelny is a strategic city, not only for the republic, but for the whole Russia.
“It is planned to increase the volume of industrial production by 3 times - up to 2 trillion roubles by 2020. Naberezhnye Chelny is the cluster center. It is also of great importance," Minnikhanov said.
He stressed there are a number of challenges today. We know our bottlenecks and try to eliminate them, he said.
