On September 30, Tatarstan President commented on the decision of the Federation Council of Russia about the use of armed forces in Syria.
“I would like to say that this is a rational decision because the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant is a big problem for the whole world. And this problem will be even more serious if we do not take tough actions. We completely support the decision of the Federation Council of Russia.
Members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant are trying to depreciate the role of Islam in the world. Traditional Islam would never allow actions taken by followers of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. We need educational people to confront them. Russian President set the task to establish an Islamic educational center in Bulgar (the Republic of Tatarstan). We should prepare our religious leaders who will be able to explain principles of traditional Islam. Unfortunately, there is a group of people doing nasty things under the guise of pseudo-Islam. It is very important to educate young people in traditions of the Hanafi madhhab that exists in harmony with other confessions in our country.”
