On October 23, at Tatarstan Government House, speaking at a regional videoconference meeting chaired by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Nikolay Titov said that Tatarstan has harvested 50 thousand hectares of sugar beet or 87 per cent of the total area, with another 7.7 thousand hectares to be removed soon. He continued that sugar beet harvesting is expected to be completed in early November.
Titov noted that to date, 1.7 million tonnes of sugar beet have been dig, with the productivity of 347 centners per hectare. Zainsk, Tukay, Tetyushi, Buinsk, Nizhnekamsk regions have the highest yield.
According to him, about two million tonnes of sugar beet are planned to be collected from the fields.
Sugar mills of the republic daily process 15 thousand tonnes of sugar beet, producing 2.4 tonnes of sugar.
In total, the republic has processed 755 thousand tonnes of sugar beet and produced 110 thousand tonnes of sugar. Expected production of sugar amounts to 220 thousand tonnes.
Speaking about forage, Titov said that 1.7 million tonnes of standard feed units per 1 conditional head - 30 quintals of conventional feed units have been harvested.
The harvesting of corn and sunflower is also underway in the republic.
