Russian Presidential Envoy in Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich meets with Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan

On November 7, during his working trip to Kazan, Russian Presidential Envoy in Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich visited Descent of the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church in Kazan.

He was met by Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan, who told him about the history of creation and reconstruction of the church.

Descent of the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church was handed over to Russian Orthodox Church in 2012, when reconstruction works started with the state support.  

Metropolitan Feofan noted that the visit of Russian Presidential Envoy to the church means that the government is not indifferent to spiritual life of such an inter-ethnic region as Tatarstan.

Mikhail Babich, in his turn, said that regional authorities pay much attention to maintaining peace and harmony among different nationalities and religions.

Later on the same day, Mikhail Babich and Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan visited an educational institution “Orthodox gymnasium named after Saint Gurias, Archbishop of Kazan” which is located near the church.
