20 November 2015, Friday

On November 20, in Kazan, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov took part in an event dedicated to the Day of Traffic Safety.

It should be noted that the Day of Traffic Safety is held on the eve of The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, which, in accordance with the UN resolution, falls on the third Sunday of November.

The event is held to commemorate road traffic victims and reiterate the need to ensure road safety in particular to young drivers and pedestrians, because according to statistics every sixth killed in an accident was a young man or woman under the age of 25 years in Tatarstan.

Khalikov drew attention to the fact that this event has for many years been held in November in different cities around the world. "Every year road accidents kill more than 20 thousand people in Russia, with 400 of them in Tatarstan. And the main reason is failure to comply with traffic rules,” he said.

He stressed that much has been done in Tatarstan to reduce the number of road traffic victims.

Tatarstan Prime Minister awarded a team of young traffic inspectors of Tatarstan, which won the European competition, and the team of driving schools for children and young people.
