Rustam Minnikhanov meets Qatar's Minister of State for Interior Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani

On December 8, during his working visit to Doha (Qatar) Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Qatar's Minister of State for Interior Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Thanking the sheikh for the reception, Minnikhanov stressed that the leadership of Russia and Qatar ensured favourable terms for regional cooperation aimed to boosting relations between the countries.

“The opportunities for our cooperation are great, in particular, in the field of economy. So far, however, we have not used them to the full extent. Our trade needs to be increased,” he added.

Cooperation with Qatar in science and education was very important for Tatarstan, Minnikhanov stated, adding many foreign students traditionally study at Tatarstan universities, and the universities will be glad to see representatives from Qatar as well.

According to him, energy, petrochemistry, agribusiness, culture, tourism and sport are the most promising areas for expanding contacts.

State of Qatar Internal Affairs Minister said that he is confident that visits like that will facilitate the strengthening of cooperation between Tatarstan and Qatar.

Aide to President of Tatarstan Radik Gimatdinov, Kamaz General Director Sergei Kogogin and Taif General Director Albert Shigabutdinov took part in the meeting.
