Vladimir Putin holds meeting on issues of constructing sports objects and transport infrastructure of summer Universiade 2013

Head of Russian government Vladimir Putin held meeting on issues of constructing sports objects and transport infrastructure of XXVII World summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan Kremlin.

We remind that Vladimir Putin is in a capital of Tatarstan with a working visit. The main purpose of his trip is studying the process of preparation for holding Universiade 2013, inspecting sport objects.

During the meeting in Kazan Kremlin Vladimir Putin informed that 26,5 bln. roubles are to be allocated from federal budget on preparation for Universiade 2013, including 21 bln. roubles in 2009-2010 and 5,5 bln. roubles in 2011. 5 bln. roubles will be allocated from republican budget.

Vladimir Putin said likewise that private investors would also participate in financing preparation for Universiade 2013. Thus, JSC “Russian railways” allocates 4-6 bln. roubles for making high-speed railway from Kazan railway station to international airport “Kazan”; JSC “Tattelekom” channels 500 mln. roubles for constructing communications infrastructure; JSC “Megafon” allocates more than 2 bln. roubles for making infrastructure of cellular communication.

“Universiade in Kazan will become so-called a “preface” of Olympic games-2014 in Sochi”, - Vladimir Putin noted. By his words, 60 sport objects are in the list of Universiade objects (11 are already functioning). 15 sport objects are to be constructed in 2010.

Universiade village is one the main objects. The first complex is planned to be launched by September, 1, 2010. Vladimir Putin informed that in future a scientific-educational cluster would be created on the basis of sport buildings in Kazan.

Chairman of Russian government also dwelled on transport infrastructure. “Sports objects will be situated in 4 zones and logistics of relocating participants and guests should be efficient”, - he said. “To my knowledge, the program of modernization of street-road network in Kazan has been already developed. Last year, the decision was made to allocate a preferential budget credit from federal budget in the sum of 10 bln. roubles for its realization. A part of funds has been put into construction”, - Vladimir Putin said. He stressed that RF Ministry of transport was charged with preparing a concept of transport maintenance of Universiade.

According to President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov 26 sports events will be presented at Universiade. By and large, 64 sports buildings will be used during competitions.

Sport objects are being actively constructed in Kazan. 18 out of 36 new objects have been commissioned. By the end of year 9 objects are to be finished.

“We plan to commission a Rowing channel and Palace of water sports in 2011 and football stadium in 2012”, - Rustam Minnikhanov said.

Taking into account that Russia will pretend to hold World football championship (in 2018 or 2022 year), Kazan adjusted project documentation of football stadium in accordance with requirements of FIFA (Federation of International Football Association).

First vice-premier of Russia Igor Shuvalov, Russian Minister of transport Igor Levitin, Minister of sports, tourism and youth policy Vitaly Mutko and others took part in the meeting.
