On January 23, speaking at a regional videoconference meeting held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov at Tatarstan Government House, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Akhmetov said that as many as 11,000 tractors, more than 6,000 seeders, over 600 sowing-machines, 5,700 weeders and other agricultural machinery will be used during the coming sowing campaign in Tatarstan.
Making a detailed report on the preparation of the machinery for spring field works, Akhmetov said that repair base of the republic includes 690 workshops and 773 heated stations for repair and adjustment of agricultural machinery.
He said that as of January 20, 2016 about 70 per cent of the total number of tractors has been repaired. Others require the most expensive and time-consuming repairs at specialized enterprises.
The Minister also reported that the technical equipment in some farms is very poor. He called on farms to actively participate in the existing programmes for upgrading machinery, including the leasing.
Commenting on the Minister’s report, Minnikhanov has emphasized on a number of areas in preparation for the spring field work. In particular, he suggested taking the preparation of farm machinery for the spring season very seriously.
