Rustam Minnikhanov visits Volga sports complex in Laishevo region of the republic

On January 24, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited a universal sports complex “Volga” with a hall for playing sports and swimming pool at the youth center in Laishevo region of the republic.  

Minister of Youth and Sports of the republic Vladimir Leonov reported Minnikhanov on the progress of work on the construction of swimming pools in Tatarstan. According to him, today 184 swimming pools, eight of which were built last year, are successfully operating in the republic. This year it is planned to build another three.  Also, sports infrastructure of the republic has 12 swimming pools, which are ready to hold competitions of the Olympic level. He added that in 2016 Kazan will host several sporting events, including the World Synchronized Swimming Championship among young men.

Then, Minnikhanov visited the new sports complex. The building houses a 25-meter long swimming pool with 5 lanes and a small one for children. Tatarstan President looked around a gym, rooms for group exercise programmes and a hall for playing sports.
