On February 24, at their meeting in Mendeleevsk, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Head of Kuibyshev railway – a subsidiary of the Russian railways Sergey Solozhenkin discussed issues of cooperation and development of railway transport infrastructure in the republic.
Rustam Minnikhanov said that due to the increasing number of major industrial projects in the republic, including Kama agglomeration, the load on transport infrastructure is increasing as well. In order to avoid the traffic standstill and road surface damage it is important to use railway more actively.
Rustam Minnikhanov added that the potential of railway freight transportation is not used in full in the republic. He gave the Ministry of transport and roads an errand to develop a long-term project of the development of railway transport infrastructure.
