On February 29, at his meeting with Board chairman of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Hideaki Omiya and Vice-president of Sojitz Corporation Takashi Hara, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan has actively cooperated with both companies since 2007 when the agreement on the beginning of design and construction of Ammoni complex was signed.
Minnikhanov stressed that the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the plant suggests that this enterprise is very important for Russia. “It is one of the unique Russia-Japan projects. We should maintain our contacts, use the experience and potential. Tatarstan is an oil-producing republic; we have many projects in petrochemical industry. The work in the sphere of gas refining should be intensified, too,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.
Rustam Minnikhanov continued that the global and domestic fertilizer markets are developing, and the construction of another complex “Ammoni-2” is required.
Japanese colleagues congratulated Rustam Minnikhanov on launching the Ammoni complex and noted that it was the most successful projects implemented by the consortium of Chinese and Japanese companies.
The memorandum of intent on “Ammoni-2” project was signed by Board chairman of AO Ammoni Renat Khanbikov, Director General of Tatneft PJSC Nail Maganov, and leadership of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Sojitz Corporation.
