Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov: international summit of Islamic business and finance is important both for Tatarstan and Russia

Lately we are witnessing development of cooperation with many Islamic countries. We can say that Russia has defined strategic partners at Muslim East. It has become a predicted partner of Islamic world. This was announced today by RT President Rustam Minnikhanov at the second international summit of Islamic business and finance.

Summit is being held in the capital of Tatarstan (KRK “Piramida”). Its key goals are strategic perspectives of developing international economic relations between Russia and Muslim world, establishment of cooperation in the sphere of direct investments of private sector of Russia and Islamic countries.

By words of Tatarstan Head relations with Muslim countries have reached new level particularly after getting the status of observer of Organization of the Islamic Conference in 2005.
“I can not help saying about Tatarstan which is proud of its contribution into development of relations with this powerful international organization and initiates all joint endeavours. Today a number of projects are functioning in Russia which support our relations at new level”, - Rustam Minnikhanov said.

Holding of international investment conference in Kazan (June, 2008) jointly with Islamic development bank and RT Cabinet have become a significant event. Within the limits of this conference Islamic corporation on developing private sector, OOO “IFK “Linova” and Mercury Consulting Services signed the Contract for elaboration of design documents on creating Islamic investment company in Tatarstan.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked General Secretary of Organization of the Islamic Conference Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu for brotherly support, exceptional care and kind attitude.

“The Republic of Tatarstan successfully develops commercial - economic and cultural relations with partners of many Muslim countries. We are united by rich cultural and historical traditions which promote mutual understanding and constructive cooperation”, - RT President said.

Thus, Tatarstan international investment company was created jointly with partners of Islamic world. Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Manager of Islamic corporation on developing private sector under Islamic development bank group Mr Khaled Al-Abudi and his Tatarstan colleagues.

Speaking about Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that today it is one of the most dynamically developing regions of Russia, which is in top 10 by various characteristics including political stability and investment attractiveness. Tatarstan has developed industry, transport infrastructure, natural resources and intellectual potential. It is the centre of oil refining and petrochemistry. Special zone of industrial-production type “Alabuga” is successfully functioning in republic.
