Rustam Minnikahnov visits Fanuc factory in Japan

1 March 2016, Tuesday

On March 1, during his working trip to Tokyo as part of the Russian delegation headed by the Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Fanuc Japan factory that produces equipment for industrial automation.

Before looking around production facilities Minnikhanov took part in a meeting between Head of Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia with President of the Fanuc company Yoshiharu Inaba.  Manturov noted that Russian machine tool industry is one of the most promising areas in the development of the industrial sector. “We are interested in cooperation with the Japanese company and this is not only about the procurement of automated equipment, but also about the participation of the Fanuc company in the process of modernization of the Russian machine-building enterprises in general,” the Minister added.

According to him, for many years the machine tool industry in Russia prospered, but in the 90-s it was down dramatically. "Today, we are developing this sector and expanding our potential. We would like to offer you cooperation in terms of technology transfer and modernization of our production facilities,” Manturov said.

He stressed that different types of cooperation are possible: obtaining licenses, establishing joint ventures, etc. "Your company has an extensive network around the world, including service maintenance and training centers. We would like to develop our cooperation," he went on to say.

Yoshiharu Inaba thanked Manturov and noted that, in his opinion, the Russian automotive industry will be developed and the Fanuc company will assist in promoting their robots to Russian factories.

During their tour of the factory, Manturov and Minnikhanov got acquainted with the latest technologies for the production and testing of automated equipment.

Yoshiharu Inaba briefed about the history of the company. From its inception in 1956 the company’s main activity was the development of numerical control technology (CNC). Today the Fanuc produces up to 25 thousand CNC devices, 5000 robots and 5600 machines monthly, employing more than 5000 people. There are 4 training centers in Russia, one of which is located in Naberezhnye Chelny (Tatarstan).
