On March 15, at his meeting with the Governor of the Kaliningrad region Nikolay Tsukanov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan and the Kaliningrad region have got everything for developing mutually beneficial cooperation.
Welcoming delegation of the Kaliningrad region, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that areas of cooperation were extended in the context of agreements reached after the exchange of visits and plan of actions for 2014-2016 for intergovernmental agreement.
Minnikhanov admitted that the trade turnover between the regions has not reached the appropriate level yet and makes 709,4 mln rubles.
Tatarstan President noted that the republic has obtained wide experience in developing innovative platforms that has a positive impact on the development of small and medium-size business in the region. The creation of regional engineering and prototyping centers is a new area of the development of innovative infrastructure.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Nikolay Tsukanov for his attention to issues of the preservation of culture and identity of Tatars living in the Kaliningrad region.
Nikolay Tsukanov said that the region is interested in developing cooperation with Tatarstan. During their last visit to Kazan in February 2013 the delegation got familiar with the experience of Tatarstan in the sphere of agriculture, building and education. He agreed that the trade and economic potential of the two regions is not well developed yet.
