Rustam Minnikhanov: Tatarstan and Belarus have big potential for cooperation

On March 15, at his meeting with Prime Minister of Belarus Andrey Kobyakov at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan and Belarus have big potential for cooperation.

A representative delegation of Belarus arrived on two-day working visit in Kazan (March 15-16).

Before themeeting with Rustam Minnikhanov the delegation had visited Kazan helicopter plant and regional engineering center “Center of Medical Science” (Eidos).

Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed the guests and congratulated them on the Constitution Day of Belarus. He noted that cooperation between the republics is successfully developing in the context of Russia-Belarus friendly relations.  He experessed his hope that the current visit would give impetus to expanding mutually beneficial relations. The intergovernmtal agreement signed in 2004 is the legal framework of cooperation between Tatarstan and Belarus.  Moreover, the agreements were signed between Kazan and Minsk, and Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Today, Belarus is one of the leading foreign trade partners of Tatarstan. The cooperation is developing in petrochemistry, mechanical engineering, agricultural industry, light industry.

Rustam Minnikhanov offered Belarus companies considering investment sites of the republic – specialized economic zones Alabuga and Innopolis, Himgrad technopolis.
