On May 12, at their meeting at the Vienna City Hall his meeting with the at the Vienna City Hall, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who is on a working visit to Vienna, and Mayor and Governor of Vienna Michael Häupl discussed issues related to tolerance, ensuring interethnic and interreligious stability which is especially important for European countries under modern conditions.
Michael Häupl briefed about the history of the Vienna City Hall building and significant events that took place within its walls.
At the meeting Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan and Austria have developed business relations, have some joint projects, and it is important to expand contacts, especially in business.
“Trade and economic relations are only one of the components of our relations. We should also cooperate in the field of culture, tourism, etc.,” Minnikhanov said. He reminded that 2017 was declared the cross Year of tourism in Russia and Austria.
The meeting also discussed the issue related to the organization of direct flights between Kazan and Vienna, which would for sure contribute to the increase of tourist flow.
Minnikhanov also said that Russian Ambassador to Austria Dmitry Lubinsky proposed Tatarstan to organize performances of creative groups in Vienna to show the national character and identity of one of the Russian regions.
Also, Minnikhanov invited the Mayor of Vienna to come to Kazan within the framework of his visit to Russia. Michael Häupl said that he is pleased to accept the invitation.
