On May 30, speaking at a video-conference at Tatarstan Government House chaired by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Akhmetov said that sowing campaign has been completed timely and with good quality.
According to Akhmetov, farmers are worried about lack of productive precipitation in the republic.
Regarding forage, he noted that in recent days perennial grasses are actively gaining weight in hot weather. "Every year, a number of households are late to start forage harvesting. Basically, grass gains weight but nutritional value falls multiply. The main thing is protein and exchange energy in the forage," the Minister said.
“Forage harvesting pace is low in the republic now, 25.3 hectares have been mowed, 5.1 thousand tonnes of hay and 42.8 thousand tonnes of haylage harvested," he reported.
Summing up about forage conservation, Akhmetov has set the task to complete major part of mowing until June 15.
