MasterCard payment system and SEZ "Innopolis" sign agreement on cooperation

On June 16, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum  an agreement on cooperation between the MasterCard payment system and SEZ "Innopolis" was signed in the presence of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and President of MasterCard Europe Javier Perez.

The agreement envisages cooperation to develop innovative technology, support start-ups of financial and technology industry, increase financial literacy and accessibility of financial services in Innopolis (Tatarstan). The document was signed by Director General of SEZ “Innopolis" Igor Nosov and CEO of MasterCard in Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia Alexei Malinovsky.

The agreement provides for the implementation of the “smart cities” concept in Innopolis, where infrastructure using modern MasterCard technology will be created. In particular, partners intend to develop a payment and identification tool – an Innopolis resident card to include payment and non-financial applications that will open access to many services for its citizens.

The MasterCard is implementing the "smart cities" concept in Russia and around the world, introducing modern technology and innovations, as well as contributing to the further development of urban infrastructure.
