On June 20, during his working visit to the Republic of Korea (June 19-20, 2016), Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Chungcheongbuk-do Province Lee Si-Jong.
Minnikhanov thanked Mr. Lee Si-Long for the invitation and said that he is glad to visit a very hospitable land of Korea. He went on to say that Russian government encourages cooperation at the interregional level.
Minnikhanov stated that he hopes that during the visit Tatarstan and South Korean business communities will find new areas for cooperation and agree on joint projects.
“We have cooperated with South Korean partners and political differences in the world should not affect our relationship,” Minnikhanov continued.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Korea for their assistance in organizing the visit.
Then Minnikhanov told about the geographical position of Tatarstan and the structure of the economy, which is based on the oil industry, engineering industry, and production of aircrafts, helicopters, cars, and ships.
Tatarstan President emphasized that much attention is paid to the development of nano- and biotechnologies. "Yesterday we visited I-KAIST office, got acquainted with very interesting technologies," he said.
Minnikhanov proposed creating a working group between the regions and invited the leadership of Chungcheongbuk-do Province to visit Tatarstan.
Mr. Lee Si-Long thanked Minnikhanov for the information about the republic and supported the proposal to establish a working group.
