On July 20, at the Kazan International Airport, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met Russian Presidential Envoy in Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, who arrived on a working visit in Tatarstan in connection with a visit of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill to Kazan.
Today Babich will accompany the Primate of Russian Orthodox Church to Kaipy village (Laishevo municipal region, Tatarstan), where a monument to a great Russian poet and famous politician Gavriil Derzhavin on the 200th anniversary of his death will be open.
Then they will head for island town of Sviyazhsk, where they will get acquainted with the results of large-scale works to revive the Orthodox holy place and visit some facilities.
Tomorrow, on July 21, Babich will take part in a solemn ceremony of the laying of a memorial stone in the foundation of the future Cathedral of Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.
Also, the Presidential Envoy will be present at a meeting of the Primate of the Russian Church with the leadership of the Kazan diocesan administration and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Tatarstan.
Bisides, during his working trip to Kazan he will visit the House of Peoples' Friendship of Tatarstan and get acquainted with the activities of national and cultural communities.
